Actor, Model, and TV Host Nathan Owens Is Gaining Notoriety In Fashion, Fragrance, and on the Small Screen

Many know actor Nathan Owens as Dr. Cameron Davis on Days of Our Lives, but the multi-talented California native first ventured into the public eye as a model. Nathan Owens has modeled for Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, and has even graced the pages of GQ on more than one occasion. As the second-ever African-American man to be featured in a fragrance campaign – for Ralph Lauren Big Pony – Owens is a clear up-and-comer in both the acting and modeling worlds.

In addition to his work on Days of Our Lives and his impressive modeling campaigns, Owens might also look familiar to Rihanna fans – he starred opposite the songstress in her 2011 music video for California King Bed. Nathan also starred alongside Nicki Minaj in her 2012 music video for her song Va Va Voom.

Owens got his start as a model a bit later than some of his peers. Born in the Bay Area and raised in Sacramento, Owens was a stellar student-athlete. He was both an academic and athletic standout who worked with the DARE program and was named team captain for both basketball and volleyball.

After a few years at Sacramento State, Owens pursued modeling at the urging of his sister. He was signed to Ford Models and from there, his career began to take off quickly. Nathan Owens booked his first major modeling campaign in New York in 2007 with known photographer Bruce Weber. Inspired by the shoot and ready to take on the modeling world, Owens moved to the East Coast to further his career. Ralph Lauren wasn’t the only major fashion hub to notice Owens – he picked up campaigns for Izod, Sperry, and Gap as well. After seeing success in the modeling world, Owens decided to return to the California sun six months after his move to NYC to pursue acting and hosting. Nathan Owens landed a job hosting First Look LA on NBC, and casting agents began to take notice of his charisma and acting chops. After his 155-episode run on Days of Our Lives, he starred as series regular Jesse Morgan in seasons 3-4 of Lifetime’s Devious Maids. Nathan Owens also starred in Ion Television’s 2020 movie The Christmas Sitters, opposite Tristin Mays. Most recently, Nathan Owens scored the recurring role of Ocean on the CW’s Batwoman.
